THIRD PERSON POV

The five of them ascended the stairs as Sirius and Remus had finally thrown them out.

"Well, the only useful information we got was Voldemort is turning stronger and we're out numbered cz no one believes us," Harry huffed, rolling his eyes.

"I still don't understand why that Chocolate fudge refuses to believe Dumbledore? Why would an Idiot even think himself of being capable to defy Dumbledore?" Alice said, rolling her eyes.

"Talk about yourself, I know everything, Dad updates me about every meeting" Adalyn said flipping her hair as the four of them came to an abrupt stop.

"Really? And why didn't you tell me that?"

"Sirius tells you about everything? Why didn't you say that before, we could have stopped a fight from happening"

"I am your bestfriend and you didn't bother telling me that"

Adalyn blinked at them as they all kept speaking above each  other. Now she understood how easy it was for Voldemort to manipulate people and why half of the death eaters are idiots.

"Ohk Ouch!" Rabastan muttered making face as Evan and Regulus gaze simultaneously went to Lucius Malfoy.

"Well, I can't tell anyone, Dad made an unbreakable vow with me that I shouldn't tell anyone" Adalyn snickered at their shocked faces. "Really? Uncle sirius made an unbreakable vow with you?" Regan asked staring at her with wide eyes causing Adalyn to mentally roll her eyes.

"Geez, is your son really dense or is he acting?" Evan said looking at Regulus who just glared at him.

"Obviously no Regan, he only has one daughter, what do you think he'll do if I open my mouth" She said as the boy looked at her in confusion, "I don't know? He'll be sad and then he'll arrange a funeral for you" He whispered as the girl just smiled sweetly at him.

"Oh Merlin" James wheezed slapping Sirius thighs who groaned shaking his head.

"I think you are enough to arrange a funeral for me, go regan get some sleep, you can kill me in your dreams" She said as the boy shrugged going to his room.

"Are all brothers idiots?" Adalyn asked turning towards Arilene who looked at Harry and then at her, "Don't ask about it"

"I am standing here if you both know" Harry said crossing his arms over his chest. "I think you are the best brother here Harry, at least better than someone we know" Sagira said rolling her eyes while looking at the way Regan went from before.

"I just want their enemies to lovers to happen fast" Marlene whispered excitedly to Mary who nodded with the same excitement.

"Thanks Esmeray, at least someone's there to support me" Harry said wiping the fake tears from his eyes and bringing the girl in a hug.

"What a show" Arilene mumbled raising her brows, "I need some popcorns"

"Ohk Esmeray let's go to sleep," She said ushering the girl towards her room. "But I want to talk to you all"

"Yeah we'll talk in the morning, I promise- no" Soon their voice faded as they both went across the floor to Sagira's room.

"Good night Harry" Adalyn mumbled as Harry smiled, "Good night Ma lune"

"I need more scenes of them, like why aren't they just talking their feelings aloud? It's high time they come together" Alice said as Frank nodded, "Even I didn't that much time to propose you"

The next morning, they were woken up by the calls of Mrs. Weasley for breakfast. But when they arrived in the kitchens, it didn't look like a rest day for everyone, because molly looked ready to deform the whole house.

"I don't think our house is so dirty that we need ten of people to clean it" Regan whispered staring around. "Regan, we all know it's a lie. We've only been to the kitchen, and our rooms that's it, we don't even look at other places of this house and I think it definitely needs some cleaning" Adalyn said before picking a piece of bread and stuffing it into her mouth and picking up a cloth to join the cleaning club.

"Do I have to do this too?" Regan whispered, staring at the dirty cloth in disgust. "Obviously, you are not some kind of prince," Sagira said, coming from behind as the boy grimaced, picking up the cloth. God, why did Uncle sirius had to offer this place for the meeting?

"Have you ever cleaned in your entire life?" Rabastan asked looking at Regulus who shook his head.

But, oh, he definitely had a better plan in mind. He quickly rushed to Adalyn and snatched the cloth away from her and dropped it on the ground. "Reg, what?" She asked, turning to face him. "Please answer honestly that you aren't a bit disgusted with all of this," He said, pointing at the dirty clothes and sheets lying around.

"I mean I am not exactly liking this, but we can't just sit around in our own house and let other people clean it" She said , "Yeah but-"

"No buts, regan we have to do it"

Sirius, who had just entered the room carrying a blood-stained bag of what appeared to be dead rats. "I've just been feeding Buckbeak," he added, in reply to Harry's inquiring look. "I keep him upstairs in my mother's bedroom. Anyway . . . this writing desk . . ."

He dropped the bag of rats onto an armchair, then bent over to examine the locked cabinet which, Harry now noticed for the first time, was shaking slightly.

"Well, Molly, I'm pretty sure this is a boggart," said Sirius, peering through the keyhole, "but perhaps we ought to let Mad-Eye have a shifty at it before we let it out, knowing my mother, it could be something much worse."

"Well it certainly could be" Sirius mumbled with a small shrug.

"Right you are, Sirius," said Mrs. Weasley. They were both speaking in carefully light, polite voices that told Harry quite plainly that neither had forgotten their disagreement of the night before.

"You know what, maybe it is a good idea to go away" Adalyn whispered staring at the stack of dead rats. Oh god, if she stayed here for a second more, people will have to clean her vomit too.

So both the black siblings quietly slipped away and went up stairs quickly.

"That's a good plan, let the rest of the people clean your house and you just run away from there." Remus snickered shaking his head, "sounds so like you, Padfoot."

"Let's normalize not dragging me in every bad decision they make" Sirius with a slight frown.

But it was not like they didn't helped them, oh they did. They spent quite a few time trying to find their house elf in that big house, because shouting for him would only cause others to get aware that they weren't helping them.

"Where could kreacher be?" Adalyn whispered looking around the attics while the boy searched the whole first floor.

"I don't know, I haven't ever talked to him before" Regan said as Adalyn chuckled coming to stand beside him. "And the heir of Blacks haven't even talked to it's house elf till now"

"Hey, I am not the heir, you are," Regan protested, looking at her while she just rolled her eyes.

"Well brother, do you know anything about the pureblood system? The son becomes the heir, not the daughter" She said as the boy just gaped at her, "What? That's not fair, you are older than me," He said as if it was just a bad thing to be the heir of a noble pureblood family.

Wulburga made a face, but didn't say anything and just shook her head in disappointment.

"Well, it is what it is," She said shrugging, "Come on we have to find that elf"

"Well, looks like we don't have to," Regan muttered, eyeing the cranky house-elf slowly emerging from a darkened hallway.
"Kreacher," Adalyn called, her voice firm. The elf straightened instantly and bowed stiffly to the two girls. "What can Kreacher do for you, Mistress?" he rasped. His tone was respectful, but his expression soured at the sight of her. He wore nothing but a grimy rag tied like a loincloth. His skin hung loosely over his thin frame, and he looked ancient—far older than either of them had expected. Bald like most house-elves, he still had tufts of white hair growing out of his oversized, bat like ears. His eyes were bloodshot and watery gray, and his large, snout like nose twitched as he looked between the two of them.

"Well that sounds like a positive description" Lily muttered massaging his temples.

"Well, you can go downstairs and help them clean, can't you?" Adalyn said, raising a brow. "Considering it was your job to keep this house in order—and you've clearly failed at it. What would your dear mistress think, seeing the heir of Black scrubbing floors while you skulk around doing nothing?" She spoke in a level voice, her gaze unflinching.

"She could have spoken a bit softly to him" Regulus muttered staring at the ground.

Kreacher's bloodshot eyes twitched, and for a moment, it looked like he might explode into a muttering tirade—but something in Adalyn's expression made him think better of it. He gave a deep, reluctant bow, knuckles clenched. "Yes, Mistress," he croaked, and shuffled away with the sound of his dragging feet echoing down the hall. "Disrespectful little witches...blood traitor's daughter"

Regan scoffed under her breath. "He's going to be muttering about us until next week."

Adalyn smirked. "Let him. It's not like I care what a house-elf loyal to a family of madmen thinks of me."

They began walking again, their footsteps muffled by the ancient carpet beneath them. The hallway stretched ahead, cloaked in shadows, and the air was thick with the scent of age—dust, wood polish, and something sharper beneath it all.

A sudden shriek echoed from below. Then: "Don't call her a Mudblood!"

"Good gracious" Adalyn muttered shaking her head, "That good for nothing elf"

"He's not good for nothing" Regulus muttered, his frown turning deeper.

Regan sighed. "Come on, Let's see what's he's done now"

Reaching the room, they saw kreacher standing in the middle glaring at everyone else, while muttering something under his breath. "I sent him down to clean, not to act like a bloody ghost" Adalyn exasperated rubbing her forehead in annoyance.

"What do you want anyway?" George asked. Kreacher's huge eyes darted onto George. "Kreacher is cleaning," he said evasively.
"A likely story," said a voice behind Adalyn. Sirius had come back; he was glowering at the elf from the doorway.

At the sight of Sirius, Kreacher flung himself into a ridiculously low bow that flattened his snout like nose on the floor.

"Stand up straight," said Sirius impatiently. "Now, what are you upto?"

"Kreacher is cleaning," the elf repeated. "Kreacher lives to serve the noble house of Black —"

"— and it's getting blacker every day, it's filthy," said Sirius.

"Oh that was a good one" Sirius said with a nod. "Your mother is gonna have your head I think" James muttered in his ear as they both looked at Wulburga shooting daggers at him.

"Not in front of everyone I guess"

"Master always liked his little joke," said Kreacher, bowing again, and continuing in an undertone, "Master was a nasty ungrateful swine who broke his mother's heart —"

"My mother didn't have a heart, Kreacher," Sirius snapped. "She kept herself alive out of pure spite."

Kreacher bowed again and said, "Whatever Master says," then muttered furiously, "Master is not fit to wipe slime from his mother's boots, oh my poor Mistress, what would she say if she saw Kreacher serving him, how she hated him, what a disappointment he was —"

Regulus made a face, why are they both insulting each other? Can't they just stop and talk properly?

"I asked you what you were up to," said Sirius coldly. "Every time you show up pretending to be cleaning, you sneak something off to your room so we can't throw it out."

This caused Adalyn and Regan to look at each other with wide eyes. So that's why they couldn't find that elf anywhere.

"Kreacher would never move anything from its proper place in Master's house," said the elf, then muttered very fast, "Mistress would never forgive Kreacher if the tapestry was thrown out, seven centuries it's been in the family, Kreacher must save it, Kreacher will not let Master and the blood traitors and the brats destroy it —"

"I thought it might be that," said Sirius, casting a disdainful look at the opposite wall. "She'll have put another Permanent Sticking Charm on the back of it, I don't doubt, but if I can get rid of it I certainly will. Now go away, Kreacher."

It seemed that Kreacher did not dare disobey a direct order; nevertheless, the look he gave Sirius as he shuffled out past him was redolent of deepest loathing and he muttered all the way out of the room.

"— comes back from Azkaban ordering Kreacher around, oh my poor Mistress, what would she say if she saw the house now, scum living in it, her treasures thrown out, she swore he was no son of hers and he's back, they say he's a murderer too —"

"Keep muttering and I will be a murderer!" said Sirius irritably, and he slammed the door shut on the elf.

"Sirius, he's not right in the head," said Hermione pleadingly, "I don't think he realizes we can hear him."

"He's been alone too long," said Sirius, "taking mad orders from my mother's portrait and talking to himself, but he was always a foul little —"

"If you just set him free," said Hermione hopefully, "maybe —"

"We can't set him free, he knows too much about the Order," said Sirius curtly. "And anyway, the shock would kill him. You suggest to him that he leave this house, see how he takes it."

Sirius walked across the room, where the tapestry Kreacher had been trying to protect hung the length of the wall. Harry and the others followed. The tapestry looked immensely old; it was faded and looked as though doxies had gnawed it in places; nevertheless, the golden thread with which it was embroidered still glinted brightly enough to show them a sprawling family tree dating back (as far as Harry could tell) to the Middle Ages. Large words at the very top of the tapestry read:

The Noble and Most Ancient House of Black
"Toujours Pur"

"You're not on here!" said Harry, after scanning the bottom of the tree. "I used to be there," said Sirius, pointing at a small, round, charred hole in the tapestry, rather like a cigarette burn. "My sweet old mother blasted me off after I ran away from home — Kreacher's quite fond of muttering the story under his breath."

 "You ran away from home?"

"When I was about sixteen," said Sirius. "I'd had enough."

James stopped reading and glanced at Sirius. "Should I?" He muttered, gesturing to the book to which Sirius nodded, "Of course Jamie, it's just about me joining my family" He grinned as James sighed and smiled at him.

"Where did you go?" asked Harry, staring at him.

"Your dad's place," said Sirius. "Your grandparents were really good about it; they sort of adopted me as a second son. Yeah, I camped out at your dad's during the school holidays, and then when I was seventeen I got a place of my own, my Uncle Alphard had left me a decent bit of gold — he's been wiped off here too, that's probably why —anyway, after that I looked after myself. I was always welcome at Mr. and Mrs. Potter's for Sunday lunch, though."

"Mr and Mrs. Potter? Is that what we've come to Siri?" Fleamont said playfully looking at Sirius who grinned at him, "Honoring the oldies I guess, you're losing your touch Monty"

"Look at who's he's calling old Mia, it was yesterday I beat him in arm wrestling" He pointed out as James snickered looking at both of them, "you did not, I just didn't wanted you to get hurt, so I went easy" Sirius said haughtily, though they both knew he was lying.

"Whatever helps you sleep at night sweetheart."

 "But . . . why did you . . . ?"

"Leave?" Sirius smiled bitterly and ran a hand through his long, unkempt hair. "Because I hated the whole lot of them: my parents, with their pure-blood mania, convinced that to be a Black made you practically royal, my idiot brother, soft enough to believe them, that's him."

Regulus looked at Sirius, his eyes narrowed in irritation.

Sirius jabbed a finger at the very bottom of the tree, at the name Regulus black. A date of death (some fifteen years previously) followed the date of birth. "He was younger than me," said Sirius, "and a much better son, as I was constantly reminded."

"But he died," said Harry. "Yeah," said Sirius. "Stupid idiot . . . he joined the Death Eaters."

"You're kidding! Regan's Dad was a Death Eater? That's not... I mean, how?"

James stopped reading and again turned to look at Sirius, who shrugged glancing at Regulus who now was staring at the ground silently.

"Come on, Harry, haven't you seen enough of this house to tell what kind of wizards my family were?" said Sirius testily.

"Were — were your parents Death Eaters as well?"

"No, no, but believe me, they thought Voldemort had the right idea, they were all for the purification of the Wizarding race, getting rid of Muggle-borns and having purebloods in charge. They weren't alone either, there were quite a few people, before Voldemort showed his true colors, who thought he had the right idea about things. . . .  They got cold feet when they saw what he was prepared to do to get power, though. But I bet my parents thought Regulus was a right little hero for joining up at first."

"Was he killed by an Auror?" Harry asked tentatively.

"Oh no," said Sirius. "No, he was murdered by Voldemort. Or on Voldemort's orders, more likely. From what I found out after he died, he got in so far, then panicked about what he was being asked to do and tried to back out. Well, you don't just hand in your resignation to Voldemort. It's a lifetime of service or death."

The way he spoke, there was an underlying frustration and sadness that couldn't quite reach his face without showing emotions he had deep buried within himself. But seems like Harry knew the emotions better than anyone else.

"Well that sounds positive, oldie Black still has a soft spot for you" Evan muttered to Regulus who ignored him.

It was silent for a few minutes before Harry stared up at Sirius to find him looking at the small picture of Regulus Black, and beside him the small picture of Regan. "You miss him don't you? Regan's father?" Harry asked, looking at him, but Sirius very quietly ignored the question,

"I haven't looked at this for years. There's Phineas Nigellus, my great-great-grandfather, see? Least popular headmaster Hogwarts ever had, and Araminta Meliflua , cousin of my mother's . . . tried to force through a Ministry Bill to make Muggle-hunting legal  and dear Aunt Elladora, she started the family tradition of beheading house-elves when they got too old to carry tea trays, of course, anytime the family produced someone halfway decent they were disowned. I see Tonks isn't on here. Maybe that's why Kreacher won't take orders from her — he's supposed to do whatever anyone in the family asks him. . . ."

"You and Tonks are related?" Harry asked, surprised.

"Oh yeah, her mother, Andromeda, was my favorite cousin," said Sirius, examining the tapestry carefully. "No, Andromeda's not on here either, look —"

He pointed to another small round burn mark between two names, Bellatrix and Narcissa.

"Andromeda's sisters are still here because they made lovely, respectable pure-blood marriages, but Andromeda married a Muggle born, Ted Tonks, so —"

Sirius mimed blasting the tapestry with a wand and laughed sourly. Harry, however, did not laugh; he was too busy staring at the names to the right of Andromeda's burn mark. A double line of gold embroidery linked Narcissa Black with Lucius Malfoy, and a single vertical gold line from their names led to the name Draco. "You're related to the Malfoys!"

"The pure-blood families are all interrelated," said Sirius. "If you're only going to let your sons and daughters marry purebloods, your choice is very limited, there are hardly any of us left. Molly and I are cousins by marriage and Arthur's something like my second cousin once removed."

"Really?" Briony asked looking at him to which he nodded, "Yeah, we are"

But Harry was now looking at the name to the left of Andromeda's burn: Bellatrix Black, which was connected by a double line to Rodolphus Lestrange. "Lestrange . . ." Harry said aloud.

"They're in Azkaban," said Sirius shortly. Harry looked at him curiously. "Bellatrix and her husband Rodolphus came in with Barty Crouch. Junior," said Sirius in the same brusque voice. "Rodolphus's brother, Rabastan, was with them too."

"Isn't that Lestrange's father? The one whose our potions partner?" Harry asked with a bit of scowl, he wasn't fond of lestrange, at all. "Yeah, him" Sirius said nodding.

And Harry remembered: He had seen Bellatrix Lestrange inside Dumbledore's Pensive, the strange device in which thoughts and memories could be stored: a tall dark woman with heavy-lidded eyes ,who had stood at her trial and proclaimed her continuing allegiance to Lord Voldemort, her pride that she had tried to find him after his downfall and her conviction that she would one day be rewarded for her loyalty.

"You never said she was your —"

"Does it matter if she's my cousin?" snapped Sirius. "As far as I'm concerned, they're not my family. She's certainly not my family. I haven't seen her since I was your age, unless you count a glimpse of her coming in to Azkaban. D'you think I'm proud of having relatives like her?"

"Sorry," said Harry quickly, "I didn't mean — I was just surprised, that's all —"

"There isn't any reason to apologize, you thought what you thought" Sirius mumbled looking at the book.

"It doesn't matter, don't apologize," Sirius mumbled at once. He turned away from the tapestry, his hands deep in his pockets. "I don't like being back here, I was thinking to move out " he said, staring across the drawing room. "I never thought I'd be stuck in this house again." Harry understood completely. He knew how he would feel if  forced, when he was grown up and thought he was free of the place forever, to return and live at number four, Privet Drive.

It was silent for a few moments as Sirius sighed looking at the boy, looking so small under the weight of everyone's expectations, the circumstances, the fear, the responsibilities he didn't ask for. He looked at the boy, not the boy who lived, not the liar in wizarding world's eyes, not the criminal who was supposed to be expelled for protecting himself and certainly not his best friend.

"Aww Padfoot, you'll make me cry" James mumbled, and true to his words, his eyes were damp with unshed tears as he blinked rapidly at the ground.

"There's no need to cry James, that's my son too," Sirius said pulling the boy in a side hug, "Son-in-law" James corrected, causing the boy to groan rolling his eyes.

His hands, as if on their own accord, wrapped around the boy's torso bringing him into a tight hug, resting his face on his head. Harry startled by the sudden action, froze in his arms, his eyes wide staring at the wall behind him.

"I don't see you as James" His godfather's words rang out in his ears, shaking him out of his frozen state, as his arms wrapped around his shoulders. "I don't care if you do" He mumbled, his face pressed on his chest.

"I see James' resemblance in you, I see his qualities and personality in you, but to me, you are still the tiny human who used to kick my ribs on not getting enough attention" A small chuckle left Sirius mouth as his left hand caressed the back of boy's head, tangling against his mess, black hair.

"Thanks for the memory Padfoot" Harry said, his hold tightening around him as he snuggled against him. "Remember Prongselette, for me you'll always be my little godson with messy hairs and crooked glasses. I don't know any Boy who Lived, anyone who has to go around saving the world. You're just Harry, and that matters the most"

"Well I didn't sign up to cry every other minute," Lily mumbled wiping the corner of her eyes.

"Can we always be like this? Not caring about the world, or anyone? I just want to be with you all Padfoot" Harry said stepping out and looking at his godfather with hopeful eyes.

"We'll be a family Kiddo, soon. When this is all over, we'll be a proper family" Sirius smiled patting the boys head.

"We will be" James said nodding and giving a bright smile to all of his friends, even peter too, who reciprocated his smile with his own.

Harry nodded, matching his smile, when his eyes suddenly caught something.  He stared at the person carefully before looking at Sirius.

"Padfoot, you said tonks isn't here because her mother was blasted off, didn't you" He said as Sirius nodded.

"Then why is Adalyn here?" He asked pointing at the picture of her beside the blasted picture of Sirius.

"Huh?" Regulus muttered frowning glancing at his mother, who looked equally confused and perplexed.

Sirius frowned looking at the place in confusion. How come Adalyn was still there on the tapestry? His mother sure would have known about her, but he was disowned. So how is it possible that she's on the family tree?

"I don't know" He mumbled, "maybe she  wouldn't have noticed or maybe" crouching down he stared at the small circle carefully, "this was put up years after Edlynne was born"

"How come that's possible?" Rabastan whispered in Regulus ear who shrugged in denial, "I don't know"

Harry stared at him in confusion as the man stood up shaking his head, "Come on Harry, let's go for Lunch" Sirius said guiding him outside the room and, cast a dark look at the tapestry before closing the door.

Mrs. Weasley kept them all working very hard over the next few days. The drawing room took three days to decontaminate; finally the only undesirable things left in it were the tapestry of the Black family tree, which resisted all their attempts to remove it from the wall, and the rattling writing desk; Moody had not dropped by headquarters yet, so they could not be sure what was inside it.

Harry felt as though a brick had dropped into his stomach when Mrs. Weasley turned to him during dinner on Wednesday evening and said quietly, "I've ironed your best clothes for tomorrow morning, Harry, and I want you to wash your hair tonight too. A good first impression can work wonders."

Adalyn, Arilene, Regan, Sagira, Ron, Hermione, Fred, George, and Ginny all stopped talking and looked over at him. Harry nodded and tried to keep eating his chops, but his mouth had become so dry he could not chew. "How am I getting there?" he asked Mrs. Weasley, trying to sound unconcerned.

"I am  taking you there" Sirius said as Harry looked at him, and by this one sentence Harry felt loads better than before. "You can wait in my office until it's time for the hearing," he said.

"Well that's a reassurance, really" James mumbled with a short nod.

Mr. Weasley and Mrs. Weasley shared a look, "He literally quarreled with Dumbledore to take you to the  ministry himself" Mr. Weasley said as Harry looked at him in shock.

"You fought with Dumbledore? He's still isn't allowing you to go outside? When did that even happen?" Harry said, staring at Sirius. "He came last night, when you were in bed," said Mr. Weasley.

Sirius stabbed moodily at a potato with his fork. Harry dropped his own eyes to his plate. The thought that Dumbledore had been in the house on the eve of his hearing and not asked to see him made him feel a bit bad.

"Chapter's over"

"Give, I'll read next" Peter said taking the book.

SNEAK PEEK INTO NEXT CHAPTER

"Is that you and Dad?" Harry asked, touching the small moving polaroid softly. "Yeah, we were in our third year, first Hogsmeade trip," Sirius said with a small smile.

"And whose this?" Harry asked pointing at another picture. "'That's Briony, my wife" Sirius replied now looking at the picture harry pointed at. "She's beautiful" Harry whispered staring at her. "Well obviously" Sirius snickered shaking his head.

"She and my mum were best friends?" Harry asked turning to face Sirius who looked at him. "Well you know, they didn't used to like each other before, very bitter relationship" He said with a dramatic sigh as the young boy looked at him confused. "Why?"

"Well because your father, being your father, was constantly at your poor mother's tail constantly asking her out, pestering her and well sorry James, but irritating her too" Sirius sighed shaking his head, "and Lily didn't like James at all,  maybe because she was friends with snape and James and snape always used to fight-"

"MY MOTHER WAS FRIENDS WITH SNAPE?" Sirius had never seen Harry more shocked and perplexed in his life. "Uh well yeah, kind of until sixth year" He replied rubbing the back of his neck waiting for the boy's reaction.

"Ohk um well continue I guess?" Harry said looking at the ground with his brows furrowed.
